Homelift FAQ's
A homelift is a residential lift that is designed specifically for a private home. They have been around for decades, however, recent innovations have seen improved designs, lower costs, and easier installs, allowing homelifts to fit in almost any home.
The key difference between a homelift and a residential elevator is that a homelift is shaftless, avoiding the complex and expensive building work needed to install a lift shaft.
Our homelifts use an electrically powered, self-contained drive system that sits discreetly at the top of the cabin. This reliable setup moves the lift smoothly and quietly between floors, giving you a comfortable, effortless ride every time.
Because the entire system is fully housed within the lift itself, there’s no need for an external motor room, bulky machinery or a separate hydraulic pump. Installation is far simpler as a result, and the homelift stays compact, efficient and easy to fit into a wide range of homes.
Homelifts are ideal for anyone looking to improve accessibility and comfort in their home. They are particularly beneficial for older adults, people with mobility challenges, wheelchair users, or those recovering from injury. Families can also benefit, as homelifts make moving between floors easier and safer for everyone. Ultimately, a homelift is a long-term investment that helps people stay independent and continue enjoying the homes they love for years to come.
The cost of an Uplifts homelift is £17,995 for the S2 model and £19,500 for the S3 model. These prices include installation and basic site preparation, covering the aperture cut and connection to a suitable power source. A homelift is also a great long-term investment, enabling many people to remain in the homes they love for longer with comfort, safety and independence.
Yes. Our S3 homelift is designed to accommodate up to three standing passengers or one wheelchair user comfortably. Although it’s our largest model, its smart, space-saving design means it can be installed in most homes without requiring major structural work. Thanks to its integrated rail system, the S3 also offers a surprisingly spacious and accessible interior.
We offer two homelift models to suit different needs. The S2 comfortably carries up to two standing passengers or one seated passenger. The larger S3 can accommodate up to three standing passengers or one wheelchair user. With these options, we provide flexible solutions suitable for a wide range of households.
Both homelifts in our range have a weight capacity of 250 kg. This makes them ideal for transporting multiple people, shopping bags, or mobility aids with ease. Our homelifts are rigorously tested to meet stringent safety standards, ensuring reliable performance and peace of mind for all users.
Yes, homelifts can significantly enhance the safety of your home. Installing a homelift can help prevent accidents, especially in homes with steep or lengthy staircases, or for individuals who may struggle with balance or mobility. Falls on the stairs are a leading cause of injury in the home, but with a homelift, you can minimise this risk and create a safer living environment for all family members.
The main reason that many people invest in a homelift is so that they can stay in the home they love when the stairs get tough. Homelifts improve mobility and convenience, especially for elderly or disabled individuals who find stairs challenging. They enhance safety by reducing the risk of falls and make it easier to move heavy items between floors (or elderly pets that still want to sleep at the end of your bed!).
Additionally, homelifts add a touch of luxury and modernity to homes, which can increase property value, helping recoup some or all the initial investment. In multigenerational households, they can cater to the needs of all ages, providing versatility. Overall, homelifts are a practical, safe, and valuable addition to modern homes.
One of the many great things about our homelifts is that installation is highly flexible, meaning it can fit in almost any room of any home.
Whether it’s from a living room to a bedroom, a hallway to a landing, a dining room to an office… the opportunities are limitless and our architects will help you choose the perfect position for your home.
Additionally, our homelifts can be installed with minimal structural modifications, making them suitable for both new builds and more commonly being retrofitted into existing homes!
Our homelifts can plug into a standard wall socket (however, our installers will often opt for a simple, neat and tidy fused spur to connect your homelift directly to mains power). Our drive system is an innovative roped-drum drive system powered by a braked motor-gearbox that is discreetly contained in the top of the lift, meaning there is no need for noisy hydraulic pumps installed in nearby cupboards, or unattractive motor boxes attached to your ceiling.
